Christmas Trees and fires

12/14/2016 (Permalink)

Christmas can be dangerous.

We all love to get our Trees up and enjoy having family and fiends around them during the holiday season. But this can also be dangerous if the proper precautions are not taken. This is the season of fires. The trees if not watered become dry and burn extremely fast and very hot. Also the lights need to checked for pinched wires and, exposed wiring, and missing or cracked bulbs. Also never use any lit candles near a tree (seems silly but it happens). The next big culprit that can ruin your holiday season is a overloaded extension cord or power strip. This is so dangerous. We see fires from this all year long but especially this time of year. Now we all want the little houses lit up and the tree and the hanging lights and wreaths but remember it all takes energy to do this and overloading your power strip is a sure fire way to ruin the holiday. Also in the North people will start using electric heaters which use a lot of amps and should be dedicated to a circuit to prevent any fires and nothing should be around them. There are a lot of possible dangers this time of year but if you use caution and care you will ensure that the holiday season is one of the best ones ever. So please remember check your lights, keep the tree watered, Never have the lights on when no one is home, no open flames near the tree, and never overload the circuits of your home or the strips you are using and Keep the electric heaters to a minimum and dedicate a circuit to them. We hope that everyone has a magical holiday and that no one experiences a flood or fire but if you do we are here to help make it like it never even happened. And one last thing please check your fire extinguishers and make sure they are up to date and one is on each floor and everyone knows where it is and how to use it.
